Yikes! It’s the year you’ve decided to up your sales numbers, find new sources of advertising, write an article a day, keep your blog and website updated regularly, and make weekly training calls with your team. Then there’s life getting in the way – grocery shopping, dinner to cook, kids to take to swim lessons, hubby to meet for your Friday night date, and that new exercise class you don’t want to miss.
And it all needs to be done NOW!
Your eyes glaze over, the parrot on your shoulder pipes up and your lizard brain takes over as you realize what’s ahead. How can you possibly do everything you need to do?
You just want to cry, or scream, or crawl under the covers, and wake up in a time before you had ever been foolish enough to start a business.
It’s okay. Take a deep breath.
We’ve all felt like that. We know the feeling that you’ll never ever get it all done… so why even bother starting. It’s all just so overwhelming, especially when the buck stops with you. This is one of the biggest reasons we procrastinate.
Research shows that people who buckle down to work in the first 90 days of the New Year tend to achieve more. So, if you’re really serious about accomplishing great things this year, get focused fast, get fired up and just fly out of the starting gate. Keep full speed ahead right through March.
Yes, you CAN do it. Take a deep breath, straighten those shoulders, grab a pen and paper, and start… one hour at a time.
Write down just 3 things that will move you forward in your business, and that you can accomplish in an hour. Then commit to that hour, and get them done. Just one hour a day.
Do this every morning. True, you may not get everything done every day, but you know what you can absolutely, without a doubt do? You can accomplish most of those 3 things. And by week’s end, you’ll be 15 steps closer to your goal. By month’s end, working 5 days a week, you’ll be 60 steps closer. And in 90 days, you could be 180 steps closer.
You know that amazing feeling when you’ve accomplished something? Give yourself a high five. Do this every day, and with just 3 small steps a day moving you forward, you’ll soon see big results.
What I’ve noticed is most people who work at home haven’t learned how to laser-focus. Their biggest mistakes are often succumbing to overwhelm and procrastinating. You can learn more about this system right here, where I learned it.
What are you waiting for?
