Let’s get really honest about your article marketing. Is it delivering for you? Are you sure you’re covering all the bases that transform an average article into one that’s really great? Here’s a checklist of the elements that must be present in your articles:
Title – Your headline or title is read 5 times more than the following body copy! It’s really an advertisement for what’s coming. It should target your ideal reader, appeal to the self-interest of your reader, and spark interest. Be a little bold and daring with it, to grab attention. Check out some of the great all-time titles and headlines, and, yes, steal ideas from magazines, other articles and blogs.
Keywords – Always work around one keyword or keyword phrase. Include it in your title if possible, in the first or second sentence, and again in your conclusion. Instead of peppering it throughout your article, use related phrases or keywords. Google likes this.
Structure – Choose from among the many different ways to construct your article. Figure out which one will work best with your topic. Here are some different structures:
- Lists
- how to guides
- reviews
- standard intro-body-conclusion
- comparisons
- checklists
- problem/solution
Outline – an outline stops you from getting carried away and off track. It also makes the writing process much simpler. Keep it simple and point form.
Article Body – This is the actual writing. Start with a good hook to make people want to read on. Then stick to your outline, fleshing out your points and/or offering a clear solution for the problem you’re writing about. Finish up with a strong summary or a call to action.
Resource box – This one isn’t about you. It should have a strong call to action, giving further value, such as a free e-book or report as incentive for visiting your website or blog, with an anchor link.
It’s not enough to write with stream of consciousness and offer it to Ezine Articles or Article Base. You’ve got to include these crucial elements so that you grab attention, solve problems and offer solutions for your readers. And that’s how you can deliver quality content.
