How to Get More Clicks By Using This Great Article Writing Checklist
Are you planning to write articles as part of your attraction marketing campaigns?
Is article writing new to you, and you’re not sure how to get started?
Then this is just what you have looking for…
Every piece you write for publication or syndication should have these three essential parts, and this article writing checklist should help in getting you started so people will want to read your writing, and most important of all, click on your links for more good stuff.
Your traffic is attracted or turned off by your title. Unless it grabs and holds a reader’s attention right off the bat, you may as well not bother writing further. So, how can you craft a title that entices readers to read on?
- Think of your title as a mini-headline, and use attention grabbing words
- Always include a benefit for the reader (WIIFM)
- Keep it short, but not too short
- Include a keyword or keyword phrase (this makes it SEO friendly)
- Numbers, How to, or Negatives arouse curiosity and entice readers to continue reading
- Practice, practice, practice
Now keep your readers attention by following these steps when you write the article body:
- Use lists. Readers love lists. Ezines love lists. They are easy to read and remember.
- Use short paragraphs – three or four lines or sentences is optimal and makes reading easier
- Use bolding for subtitles, list headings and numbers to emphasize them.
- Keep your entire article between 400 and 550 words. Too long articles may cause attention to drift.
- Be conversational and informal and you’ll get more clicks.
The resource box at the end or your article is where you can promote your links and entice readers to take action. These guidelines will help you get the most benefit from the resource box.
- Don’t write about yourself; show to how you can help the reader
- Bribe your readers to click – make them an offer they can’t refuse!
- KISS principle – no more than 3 or 4 lines
- Use the maximum number of links allowed.
- Make one link the full URL, and the others keyword anchor text.
- Test different resource boxes and track the click through rate.
